I just arrived home from the hospital again. The doctor told me that there aren't many long-term options for me to be healthy again (I'm not very healthy right now). Basically there is only 1 remedy that could help long term, called Remicade. This is a new drug, it's been on the market for 7 years now I think (he told me). What happens is that I need to take an injection, over a period of 2 hours, every 8 weeks. But first I need to take one this thursday, then again in 2 weeks and again in 4. After that it's an 8-week interval. After that injection, I have to stay in the hospital for another 2 hours to see if there are no side-effects arising. These side effects could be major and dangerous. However if things go right, there is an 80-90% chance that this drug will help me recover. If the medication helps, the expectation of staying healthy over a long-term (5 year) period is 60-70%. About having kids with this medication: according to my doctor there is no research showing problems, however they just warn you because they can't be sure. He told me we could go ahead with trying so we will. And that if my health would improve because of the treatment, our chances of getting pregnant would also increase a lot. So basically: it'll be a very heavy period for me but I should come out more healthy than I am now. Don't underestimate it though, these ain't aspirins or anything, this is serious stuff and a last resort as research stands now. If this doesn't work, I'm screwed badly. Dat is niet zo mooi. Hoop dat deze behandeling wel aanslaat en goed ook en dat je er over 5 jaar bijna geen last meer van hebt. In ieder geval veel sterkte in deze periode | |||

Nou ik ben terug uit het ziekenhuis.
Geen bijwerkingen behalve dat ik moe ben, dus dat gaat goed. Hopen dat het zo blijft en dat het spul gaat werken (maar dat gaat wel even duren geloof ik). En al m'n vakliteratuur weer bijgespijkerd
Over 2 weken een nieuwe ronde, hopelijk gaat dat net zo goed. |
